A True Best Friend

As I walked in Southampton Middle School with a hearing loss with a bulky FM system that emitted a high pitched feedback from my custom molded ear pieces that I had to wear for school ever day, I also had to give a teacher a bulky micrpphone system which I hated to do. Students looked at me and then walked away, didnt approach me nor try to start up a converstation with me, but they did run to their friends to start a converstation with a finger pointing and stares. I had a secret.... I could lip read and knew exactly what they were saying... they were talking about me or making fun of other people.

There was several people that I had met that didnt do that to me, one of of them was Jamie Hamrick (O'Gallcobhair). Blonde Hair with blue eyes with a big smile on her face. She told me to ignore those people and they were 'snobs". We started our friendship that grew for years. We had one class together in middle school but we would see each other in again during lunch time.

When we were in High School, she and I were in several classes togethe which even grew our bond even more. Esp in our science class together. I hated science!  She knew I was also a Type 1 diabetic and also made sure I was ok during school time. We went to Prom together, graduation together, Ill never forget those moments. We did our own "senior trip" together during the summer to Adventure World which is now called Six Flags in Largo, MD. We had alot of adventures together and had alotof great memories and fun times.

Even though we both would move around or have relationships and lose track of time, when we meet up again for lunch, or whatever, it would be like just like yesterday.

When Jamie introduced me to Jessie, her wife. She was the happiest I ever seen her. I think she was scared to tell me because of how others will judge them. I'm one of these people that don't judge people that way. Jessie, Jamie and now Mike (Ninja) are the most dedicated, sincere, unselfsh people I ever met in my life.

They have been there during my surgeries that I have gone thru, even bringing food to my house. Even the bad times in my liife when I needed her the most, she was there. She was a true loyal best friend I ever had. No one will ever replace her. Love you Jamie. I know I am going to miss texting you, asking you or help or guidance, etc. You will be missed by many of us, especially your family and me.
