Obituary for Floyd Decal "Pap Pap" Earls

Floyd “Pap Pap” Decal Earls, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on July 3, 2015. He was 84. He was born in Cherokee Falls, South Carolina to Frank and Mary Eaker Earls.
He was the devoted husband of 51 years to Betty “Babe” Earls who he met in 1964. He was the loving father of Peter Trzebinski and his wife Sieglinde, Carol Ann Callloway and her husband Ricky, Donna Cardwell, Bybee Leigh Vigil and her husband Luis. He was the grandfather of 10, great-grandfather of 21, and great- great grandfather of 1. He was predeceased by his siblings, Johnie, Howard, Boyd, Bob, Horace, and Belton Earls, and Vera Patterson. He was also predeceased by one grandchild, Phillip Talley. There were several people who were just like true family to Mr. Earls whom he loved: Fred Thompson and his wife Anita, and their children Brooke and Tanner; Joanna Murray and her son Jimmy Crabbe; Tommy Meehan and his wife Erin and their children Tommy Jr.; and Jarred, John Meehan and his wife Jennifer and their children Katie and Quintin; Tommy Scearce; Kevin Scearce and his son Nathan; Jordan Pentz and Derek Pentz.
Mr. Earls served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 70. He owned his own business for several years. He was a very talented craftsman. He was the creator of a 500 lb. decoy named “Elmer Busch”. He was known to make large duck decoys instead of snowmen, and would even paint them. One of these was captured by the Record and the Aegis in 1987. He was a member of the American Legion Post 47, the Disabled American Veterans, and the VFW in Abingdon.
Mr. Earls had a great affection for people. He was a mentor to many. All who knew him loved him.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM. Interment with honors will be held at Harford Memorial Gardens. Rev. Lucky Boyd Earls will officiate. Pallbearers will be James Logan, Tony Logan, Michael Boyd, Tommy Scearce, Kevin Scearce, and John Meehan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Harold Barker, Donnie Bowlen, James Barker, Zed Logan, Nathan Christley, and John Spriggs.
