Ernest David “Ernie” Testerman of Darlington passed away suddenly on March 5, 2015. He was 59. Ernie was a lifelong Harford County resident. He graduated from Havre de Grace High school in 1973 and from University of Maryland at Baltimore, School of Pharmacy in 1979, with honors. In 1975 he married Robin Head. After graduation from pharmacy school, Ernie worked for Thrift Drug and Pharmacy; he worked days and Robin nights to raise their children. He then went to work for Elkton Pharmacy until its purchase by ACME/SAVON, where he spent 17 years. Ernie not only enjoyed his career, but the individuals that were more than customers, they were extended family. He was a member of the Maryland Pharmacy Association and in 1997 was elected president. When he was not working he enjoyed working in his yard and gardening, over the past few years his garden expanded and the experiments to grow bigger and better vegetables was a springtime ritual. He could often be found outside taking pictures of his birds, especially in the spring when there were new hatchlings. Ernie believed that if something was to be done, it was to be done right. He enjoyed reading, and learning was a passion he passed on to his children and his grandchildren. His family and friends will always remember the loving, caring, generous, and funny gentleman they were blessed to have in their lives.
He leaves behind to mourn him, his beloved wife of almost 40 years Robin (nee Head) Testerman; his devoted children Rachael Testerman Ryan and her husband Patrick, and Jeffrey Raymond Testerman; the joys of his life his granddaughters, Jaclyn Rose and Teagan Elizabeth; his dear brothers, Buddy Testerman and wife Sandra, Eddie Testerman and wife Marilyn, and Ronnie Testerman and wife Jenny; his treasured aunt, Hazel Osborne; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Trudy Head her late husband Jackie, Hillard Head and wife Barbara, Rose Sprankle and her late husband Donnie, Beverly Hash and husband Walter, Margrete Stine and husband Harry, and Winnie Huff and husband Morgan Beatty. He also leaves behind a host of favorite nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews that all lovingly knew him as Uncle Ernie. He was predeceased by his parents Reeves and G. Dolores Testerman.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 S. Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD 21078 from 3-5 and 7-9 P.M, where a funeral service will be Wednesday, March 11, 2015 beginning at 2 P.M.
