Obituary for Arthur E. Coakley

Arthur E.  Coakley
Arthur E. Coakley, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on February 27, 2015. He was 79. Mr. Coakley was born in Havre de Grace, MD, to William C. Coakley and Margaret F. Walker Coakley. He was the devoted husband of the late Patricia Sue Coakley, loving father of Dwayne Coakley and his wife Tammy, Diane Susan Marks, Donna Louise Holliday, and Margaret Elaine Coakley. He was the adored grandfather of Cody Ryan Holliday, Casey Logan Holliday, Travis Allen Coakley, Tyler Andrew Coakley, Brian David Marks, Andrea Michelle Marks, Liam Emerson Logan, and Levin James Logan, and great-grandfather of Jayden Elizabeth Holliday, Chase Logan Holliday, and Easton Ryan Holliday. He was the dear brother of Richard Coakley, William Coakley and the late James Coakley.
Mr. Coakley served in the U.S. Army for 2 years, then in the reserves for four years. He worked until retirement for the U.S. Postal service, and was a former Postmaster for Rising Sun, MD. He was a member of the Havre de Grace ELKS Lodge, and served as chairman for many years for their pool. He was a member of American Legion Post 47, and was a part of their golf club. He also was extremely active with and led the Sea Scouts for many years. He loved golfing.
A viewing will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD 21078. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM. Pastor Norman Obenshain will officiate. Contributions may be made in his memory to Kaufman Cancer Center, 500 Upper Chesapeake Drive, Bel Air, MD 21014.
