Mary Sue Zdenek


Mary Sue Zdenek, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on November 29, 2012. She was 71.
Mrs. Zdenek was born in Havre de Grace, MD to the late Gerald and Regina Harkins Larner. She was the loving wife of 8 years of John G. Zdenek. She was the loving mother of Scott Patrick Long and his wife Sue of Pittsburgh, PA, Gregory Allen Long and his wife Marcia of Bel Air, MD, Christina Pfister and her husband Ed of Timonium, MD, and Jennifer Sharretts and Gary Ekelund of Havre de Grace, MD. She was the adored grandmother of Julie Long, Jordan Long, Noah Long, Megan Mahoney, Erin Mahoney, Caitlin Mahoney, Hayden Sharretts, Grant Sharretts and Jennie Pfister. She is the sister of Gerald Larner, Jr., and his wife Mira of Ellicott City, MD, Patricia Kelly and her husband Jack Kelly (deceased) of Bel Air, MD, and Mary Coale and her husband Prescott of Bel Air, MD. Mrs. Zdenek graduated from Bel Air High School in 1959. She then received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. She spent her career at Lyon’s Pharmacy, Harford Memorial Hospital and Darlington Pharmacy. She was active with the Bel Air High School Reunion Committee. She was a member of the American Pharmaceutical Association, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and Cedar Gun Club. She enjoyed trap shooting and was the winner of the Maryland Women’s Handicap in 1998. She also enjoyed ballroom dancing. She was a great lady who enjoyed her family and friends.
A viewing will be held on Monday, December 3, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at 10:00 AM, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 615 Congress Avenue, Havre de Grace, MD. Father William J. O’Brien will officiate.
