Obituary for Albert Rowan Riedal

Albert Rowan Riedal, of Churchville, MD, passed away on August 6, 2018. He was 78.
Mr. Riedal was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, to Albert Neslon Riedal and Helen Estelle Friedel. He was the devoted husband of Kathryn Eileen (Hoffman) Riedal, loving father of John William Riedal, Albert “Pete” Roland Riedal and his wife Terri, Michael Joseph Riedal and his wife Sandra, and Theresa Lynn Ray and her husband Deward, grandfather of Brendan Riedal, Jason Riedal, Rachel Nystrom, Jacob Riedal, Tyler Riedal, Cassidy Riedal, Grier Ray, Tucker Ray, and Owen Ray, and great-grandfather of 4 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Claire Ann Pellolio.
Mr. Riedal was a Master Plumber who owned and operated Riedal Plumbing and Heating, having helped build the communities of Box Hill North, Box Hill South, Laurel Valley, Major’s Choice, Constant Friendship and Log Pond. He was a member of St. Ignatius Church, the Knights of Columbus and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying shark fishing and big game hunting, having hunted all over the United States, Canada, and had hunted in Africa twice. He was also an avid waterfowler, enjoying body-booting with Pat Vincenti. Mr. Riedal was also a member of the Cedar and Carney Trap Shooting Clubs, where he won several Amateur Trap Shooting Awards, and was also a member of the Police Pistol League where he won several awards as well. Being a student of Jeff Moore with Fowl Play Studios, Mr. Riedal became an excellent carver of decorative bird and waterfowl decoys, winning several ribbons for his work.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Monday, August 20, 2018, at 10 AM, at St. Ignatius Church Historic Chapel, 533 East Jarrettsville Road, Forest Hill, MD 21050. Interment will follow at Angel Hill Cemetery.
