The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Noble Mentzer can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence From: Barry & Pam Bodt
Condolence: Among my earliest memories were a few pillars in the United Methodist Church who I came to recognize and respect. I remember Noble as my dedicated Sunday School teacher, my youth fellowship leader, and later my church softball coach and teammate. He was the UNICEF Santa Claus, the spaghetti dinner server, the social room painter, a member or officer of countless church committees. When we would come back to our home church to visit, it was always comforting to glance around the sanctuary and see him worshiping from his customary pew. Always welcoming, always warm. Our deepest sympathies to the Mentzer family.

Condolence: To the Mentzer Family, We are so sorry for your loss. Mr Mentzer was one of our favorite customers at the Havre de Grace Library. He always had a smile, kind words and even treats from Golls Bakery for the staff on Sat mornings. I personally will miss his hugs when he greeted me during his visits. With Deepest Sympathies.

Condolence: I am sending sympathy to the family, and offering prayers for comfort. Noble was a long time supporter of our Children of Zion ministry to orphaned children in Namibia. His support and prayers for the children have been a blessing. With appreciation, Lisa McLaughlin and the Children of Zion board of directors.

Condolence: I was visiting the Havre de Grace United Methodist Church with my friend, Gretchen, in 1985 when my son, Brian Murray, suffered his hunting accident. Mr. Mentzer gave me this note and I have carried it with me since that time. We all know he is at peace in heaven with our Lord. What a wonderful man!

"October 1985

Mrs. Murray,

A bible verse that has helped me in war as well as in peace. My mother shared this with me in 1948.

Joshua Chapter 1, Verse 9

BE STRONG AND OF GOOD COURAGE. BE NOT AFRAID NEITHER BE THOU DISMAYED; FOR THE LORD THY GOD IS WITH THEE WHERESOEVER THOU GOEST.

We will pray for you!

Noble Mentzer"

Condolence: Noble was a true gentlemen. He was one of those rare people who you just could not help but love. I knew Noble from the UMC, he was my sponsor into the church and I will never forget that or him. Loved meeting him for the 11 AM service, he always wore a suit. One of my prized possessions is a hand carved duck-decoy tie pin that he made and gave me. I will miss him. My condolences to the family. God Bless.

Condolence: Mark & Jackie, my heart aches for you and your family. I thought of your dad often and wondered how he was doing since I retired from the bank. He always greeted me with, “Do you have any pineapple ice cream?” We shared recipies and he always asked about my mom. Now they can talk about who’s recipe is the best in heaven. I can tell you from experience that being a caregiver is very hard but what you’ve shared is priceless. Remember the good times. I miss you and all our classmates. Love to you and your family😘

Condolence: "Have I told you, today, that I love you? If not, then consider yourself told!" This was the greeting that Noble and I would share with one another with each time that we would meet. Our hearts are heavy with sorrow that comes from knowing that you and I will never greet each other in that fashion anymore. You were, not only, a friend but, you were my mentor. You were and still are the type of person that I, one day, dream to be. You were my biggest fan and supporter when I would come to perform for the family at Always in Grace Assisted Living. You were the friend that I would seek out at the Young at Heart Club just to tell you that I did love you and selfishly, on my part, await to hear you tell me the same. May you rest in peace at the right hand of God and always remember, "Have I told you, today, that I love you?"
