Obituary for Margaret Carson Johnson (Carson)

Margaret Carson Johnson, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on May 2, 2018. She was 98.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Principio Furnace, MD, to James A. Carson and Millicent B. Craig Carson. She was the wife of the late Howard J. Johnson, loving mother of Howard James “Jim” Johnson and his wife Patricia of Burke, VA, and Sandra Johnson Vuncannon and her husband Walter of Aberdeen, MD. Mrs. Johnson was the adored grandmother of Scott Johnson and Andrea Lester, Karen O’Dell (Randy), Jeffrey A. Fulp, Jennifer A. Grant (Andrew), Matthew W. Vuncannon (Andrea), Megan S. Rupert (Joshua), Julie M. Crowe (Christopher), and the late David A. Fulp, and great-grandmother of Zachary O’Dell, David A. Fulp, Jessica M. Fulp, Cameron L. Grant, Isabella A. Grant, Emme S. Grant, Christopher M. Vuncannon, Alison N. Vuncannon, Abigail M. Vuncannon, Caleb J. Rupert, Brody J. Rupert, and Kinsley Ann Rupert. She was predeceased by 8 siblings.
Mrs. Johnson was the Director of the Havre de Grace Cooperative Preschool Center for over 40 years, providing care for children of many families working at Aberdeen Proving Ground. She was a lifelong member of Havre de Grace United Methodist Church, where she was formerly president of the Women’s Society, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and Past-President of the Young At Heart Club.
Mrs. Johnson was a remarkable seamstress and cook. She loved to decorate her house for the holidays and make crafts.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2018, from 5-7 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 S. Washington St., Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 7, 2018, at 10 AM, at Havre de Grace United Methodist Church, 101 South Union Avenue, Havre de Grace, MD. Pastor Norman Obenshain will officiate. Interment will be held at Harford Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Scott Johnson, Jeffrey Fulp, Matthew Vuncannon, Randy O’Dell, Andrew Grant, Christopher Crowe, and Joshua Rupert.
