Obituary for Sigrid Eleanor Nowicki (Forner)

Surrounded by her loving family and fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Sigrid Eleanor Nowicki of Havre de Grace, MD, passed from this life on September 29, 2017. She was 92.
Mrs. Nowicki was preceded in death by her loving husband of 41 years James John Nowicki, her parents Joseph Reinhardt Forner and Marie Anna Forner, and her sister Brunhild Isolde Forner. She is survived by her children Joanne Sigrid Nowicki of Havre de Grace, MD, James John Nowicki, Jr., and his wife Amanda, of Elkton, MD, and Michael James Nowicki of Pearland, TX. She was the adored grandmother of James John Nowicki, III, and Samuel Martin Nowicki.
Mrs. Nowicki was a long time member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Long Branch, NJ and more recently was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Havre de Grace, MD. She was very active in her church in her younger years. During her years in New Jersey, she was a member of the New Era Benevolent Association. She enjoyed painting, ceramics, knitting, and traveling the world.
Mrs. Nowicki held various civil service positions which included working as a court reporter for JAG overseas and as an accountant and treasurer for Paterson Army Hospital at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. However, she always regarded the tasks associated with being a good wife, a good mother, and a good servant of the Church to be her true vocation.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 5-8 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington St., Havre de Grace, MD. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017, at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 615 Congress Avenue, Havre de Grace, MD. Father Dale Picarella will officiate. Interment will be held on a later date, at Arlington National Cemetery.
