Obituary for John Thomas Harrison Sr.
John Thomas Harrison, Sr. of Havre de Grace, MD passed away surrounded by his family on August 14, 2017. He was 81. He was the devoted husband of Margaret Mildred (Dry) Harrison.
Mr. Harrison was born in Lorton, VA to the late Robert Edward Lee Harrison and Elizabeth (Morrison) Harrison. He was the loving father of three; John Thomas Harrison, Jr., Cynthia “Leslie” Pease and her husband Dennis, Elizabeth Marie Harrison and her husband Herbert Maheu, Jr. He was the adoring grandfather six; Christopher Thomas Maheu, Michelle Renee` Harrison, Heather Leigh Reynolds, Orion Thomas Reynolds, Curtis Gregory Pease and Taylor Nicole Pease. He was the great-grandfather of Gianna Leigh Maheu. Mr. Harrison is survived by his Siblings Richard L. Harrison and his late wife Emily, Camelle Firda and her husband Joe, Sophia Geiger and her late husband David and the late Rose Bailey. He is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Mr. Harrison was a graduate of Aberdeen High School and went in to the United States Army. After serving his country he went to college and continued his education earning him, his master’s degree as a research mathematician. He worked for more than 42 years at Aberdeen Proving Ground in the Ballistics Research lab. He worked and developed computers and programming all his life.
A viewing will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD and will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. Where a funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. Pallbearers will be John Thomas Harrison, Jr., Christopher Thomas Maheu, Orion Thomas Reynolds, Curtis Gregory Pease, Herbert Maheu, and Dennis W. Pease. Honorary Pallbearers will be Michelle Renee Harrison, Heather Leigh Reynolds, Taylor Nicole Pease, Guy Kowalewski, Johnny Dry, Richard Harrison, and Joseph Firda.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Havre de Grace Elks Lodge, BPOE 1564 Absent member Scholarship Fund and mailed to PO Box 67, Havre de Grace, MD 21078 and Aberdeen High School Alumni Scholarship Fund, 251 Paradise Road, Aberdeen, MD 21001.
