Kenneth Berkley Starr, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on March 6, 2017. He was 93. Mr. Starr was born in Havre de Grace, MD, to Walter and Ethel Standiford Starr. He was the devoted husband of 41 years to Gayla Ann Starr, loving father of Sandra Lee Testerman and her husband, Reeves “Buddy” Testerman, of Havre de Grace, MD, John Wesley Gainey and his wife Leuretha, of Colora, MD, David Wesley Gainey and his wife Diana of Havre de Grace, MD, Karl Logan Sweigart and his wife Crystal of Havre de Grace, MD, and Earl Lee Sweigart and his wife Shannan of Havre de Grace, MD. Mr. Starr was adored grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Charles Hawkins.
Mr. Starr served in the U. S. Army from 1943-1946. He was a Charter Member of the Level Volunteer Fire Company. He served as both Fire and Ambulance Lieutenant and Captain and served on the Board of Directors.
He enjoyed reading the newspaper and growing strawberries. He was a NASCAR fan and a fan of Jeff Gordon.
A viewing will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at 11:00 AM, at the funeral home. Rev. Paul L. Simmons will officiate. Interment will be held at Rock Run Cemetery.
