Obituary for William Calvin Gorham

William Calvin Gorham, of Havre de Grace, MD, graced Heaven with another angel on November 4, 2016. He was 76.
Mr. Gorham was born in Winchester, VA, to Fuller Reynolds Gorham and Lucy Kercheval Gorham. He was the devoted husband and best friend of Joan Constance Thomas Gorham. They spent 54 years together as an inseparable couple who continued to show their love for each other from the time they were married until his passing. Mr. Gorham was the loving father of Mark A. Gorham and his wife Sharon L. Gorham; Patricia L. Jobes and her husband Charles K. Jobes; Thomas E. Gorham and his wife Michele Gorham; all of Havre de Grace, MD, James D. Gorham and his wife Christine Gorham; of Jarrettsville, MD, and Steven E. Gorham of Havre de Grace, MD. He was the adored grandfather of Keith Glen Jobes, Andrew Colin Jobes, Kyle Anthony Gorham, Connor Thomas Gorham, Natalie Catherine Gorham, Jamie Nicole Gorham, and multiple grand-dogs. He was the dear brother of Walter Eugene Gorham, DVM, and his late wife Linda Gorham, of Southlake, TX, and the late Lee Reynolds Gorham and his wife Bernardine Gorham. He was the brother-in-law of Barbara P. Helvey and her husband Bill of Upper Marlboro, MD, Marshall E. Thomas and his wife Linda of Havre de Grace, MD, Gail E. Lamoureux and her husband Donald, of Fairmont, WV, and James R. Thomas and his wife Kimberly of Havre de Grace, MD. Mr. Gorham is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, as well as Carol Edge, a dear friend who was like family, and all of his Bay Brook neighbors. Nephew Marshall Thomas, Jr., wife Jessica, and daughters Emma and Jayden were also very special to Mr. Gorham.

He attended Aberdeen High School, and then served in the U.S. Air Force on Moron Air Base in Spain for 4 years. After the Air Force, he worked until retirement at Aberdeen Proving Ground as an Experimental Mobile Equipment Test Driver. Mr. Gorham was a past member of the Elks Lodge. He was an avid NASCAR fan, a Baltimore Ravens fan, and a Baltimore Orioles fan. He was a Mr. Fix-It and could repair anything. He loved history and astronomy, spending many hours stargazing through his telescope. Most of all Mr. Gorham loved spending time with his family enjoying delicious home-cooked meals prepared by his family. He was known for his sense of humor and could often be found with his close companions, brother-in-law Marshall Thomas, Sr., and son-in-law Charles Jobes.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to extend their appreciation for everyone involved with Mr. Gorham’s care, especially the nursing staff in the 3 South Telemetry Unit at Harford Memorial Hospital and the Season’s Hospice Staff. Special appreciation is given to Dr. Hi Sim and Dr. Thomas Biondo.
