Obituary for William S "Uncle Bill" Woods

William Spahr Woods, Sr., passed away on October 26, 2016. He was 87.
Mr. Woods was born in Newhall, West Virginia to James Robert Woods, Sr., and Carmen Virginia Asbury Woods. He was the devoted husband of 59 years to the late Norma Lee Woods, loving father of Victoria Maria Rickard of Havre de Grace, MD, and William Spahr Woods, Jr., of Pennsylvania. He was the adored grandfather of Brian D. Rickard, Christopher W. Rickard, Phillip J. Rickard, Michael Woods and Nicholas Woods, and great-grandfather of 9. Mr. Woods was the dear brother of Joan Tester of Ohio, Jolene Sherwood of Florida, Jack D. Woods of Ohio, Nancy Bowman of West Virginia, and the late James R. Woods, Hazel Barnes, Ira E. Woods, and Clyde A. Woods.
Mr. Woods was a Havre de Grace Resident for 45 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and received several Bronze Stars for his actions during combat. He was a member of the VFW in Aberdeen. He loved doing word-search puzzles, camping and fishing, and enjoyed walking around Havre de Grace.
A viewing will be held on Monday, October 31, 2016, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM, at Bethel Apostolic Church, 21 North Earlton Road, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will begin at 12:00. Pastor Buddy Flosser will officiate. Interment will be held at Angel Hill Cemetery.
