The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Katherine Goad can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence: Deborah, I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful mom. I never met your mom but may God and his strength help you and your family through this difficult time. You told me so many stories about growing up and although I never knew your mom I feel like I know her through you. May God bless you and your family and give you all peace at this time. Rest in peace angel

Condolence: I read about the death of Katherine and I wanted to express my feelings of sympathy for the Goad family. Most of us have seen this enemy death claim the lives of people dear to us. But God promises to destroy this enemy, death, once and for all. Rev. 21: 3,4; tells us "With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: "Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. "And God himself will be with them." And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore." (Isaiah 25: 8, 1 Corinthians 15: 26) For more comforting scriptures please visit: http://bit.ly/1K38EFt. I offer my sincere condolences to the family. Condolence: My Mom was one of the strongest people I have ever known. She was born with polio and grew up poverty-stricken. She raised six children and several grandchildren. She went to night school in her 40s and got her nursing degree. And she put up with me. Those of you who are from Aberdeen may remember, I was difficult! But through it all my mother shined through. She worked and kept a tidy home. She cooked and helped with our homework. She did the laundry and played catch with me. She grew a mean tomato plant and made homemade apple sauce. She loved her coffee so strong you could stand up a spoon in it. And she just accepted me. It was unconditional love. When the nursing home called on Saturday I knew it was 'the call.' I was immediately a kid again. I wanted to be in Aberdeen. I wanted to hear her tell me everything's gonna be alright...in her Tennessee Twang. I wanted to wake up in my old sun-porch bedroom on Sunday Morning and smell sausage gravy and biscuits. I wanted my mother. I was driving with my daughter and had to pull over. The nurse who broke the news is a woman who worked with my mom for over twenty years...in the same place where she died. My mom worked there for 30+ years. She was known there as 'Miss Kathy.' She was actually called that for years prior by the kids in the neighborhood. Being that our family was particularly large we always had kids over. And they were always treated well. As the now-grown friends will attest. I shall strive for the rest of my days to honor her in my deeds and words. I love you, Mom. Elmer
