Obituary for Grace Ellen Atkinson

Grace Ellen Atkinson, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away surrounded by family, on June 29, 2016. She was 77.
Mrs. Atkinson was born in Youngstown, Ohio, to the late Dock Ellsworth Johnson and Emma Florence David. She was the wife of the late Robert Stanley Atkinson for 19 years, and loving companion of Hunter Gilley. Mrs. Atkinson was the loving mother of Donald Wayne Bowlen and his wife Teri, of Perryville, MD; Trenice “Terrie” Louise Moats and her husband Paul, of Woolrich, PA, Tina Marie Workman and her husband Eric, of Osh Kosh, WI; Nina Nanette Mingledorff and her fiancé Andy Clarke, of Airville, PA; and Regina Florence Hornberger and her husband Greg of Conowingo, MD. She was the adored grandmother of 11, great-grandmother of 11, and dear sister of Henry Joe Pisegna and his wife Carol.
Mrs. Atkinson loved to sew and play cards. She was an avid baker, cook, and gardener. She enjoyed watching soap operas, especially the Young & Restless and the Golden Girls. Most of all, she loved being with her children, grandchildren and her cats.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 10 AM until 12:00 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 S. Washington St., Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will begin at 12 PM. Pastor Ron Smith will officiate. Interment will be held at Harford Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Greg Hornberger, Matthew Hornberger, Fernando Parker, Jr., Donald Bowlen, Adam Bowlen, and Henry Joe Pisegna.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 1850 York Road, Suite D, and Timonium, MD 21093.
