Obituary for Arthur Pue Gorman "Captain" Asher II

Arthur Pue Gorman Asher, II of Havre de Grace, MD referred to lovingly as the “Captain” by his friends and the locals, succumbed to a long term illness on June 29, 2016 surrounded by his wonderful family. He was 71 years old. He left behind his soul mate of 48 years Susan P. (Carroll) Asher.

Born in Havre de Grace, MD on January 29, 1945, Arthur was the son of the late Arthur D. and Betty L. (Gordon) Asher. Arthur was a graduate of the Havre de Grace High School Class of 1963 and graduated from Harford Community College in 1965. He also studied at the University of Maryland and University of Baltimore. Arthur served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966-71 during Vietnam. After his service to his country, Arthur came home to work in the family business for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Havre de Grace American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed photography and trap shooting. He volunteered for many years as a Boy Scout Leader and was a member of the Amateur Radio Association.

He is survived by his loving children David M. Asher and Page Asher Mitchem and her husband Dennis Ray Mitchem. He was the devoted grandfather to Michael David Mitchem and Amber Nicole Mitchem. He was the adoring great-grandfather to Dominic Isaac Mitchem. He is survived by his beloved sister Donna Mae Asher.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 S. Washington St., Havre de Grace, MD 21078 on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 6 to 8 P.M. and on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 11 A.M.-12 P.M. A funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 12 P.M.

Donation in lieu of flowers may be made to the Cub Scout Pack 967, 101 S. Union Avenue; Havre de Grace, MD 21078
