Obituary for Siham Osman

Dr. Siham Osman, of Havre de Grace, Maryland, passed away on April 27, 2016. She was 87 years old. As a young artist, Siham studied painting and received her bachelor’s degree from the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Cairo, Egypt. She completed her Master of Fine Arts degree from Kansas University and her PhD in Art Education from Pennsylvania State University. Siham had a strong belief in the healing properties of creative expression and the emotional release art provided for children. She worked as an art therapist for emotionally disturbed and socially maladjusted children and adolescents for many years and was an Assistant Professor of Art History, Painting and Art Education at York College of Pennsylvania. As an accomplished painter and tapestry maker, Siham exhibited her work worldwide including the Walters Art Gallery in Baltimore and galleries in Egypt, England, Hungary and Holland. She enjoyed the company of her many friends and family and especially loved going to the Senior Center in Havre De Grace. She was the loving mother of Sherif Osman, M.D. and his wife Ann Osman, M.D. of Bel Air and Sherifa Clarke and her husband Bruce Clarke, of Havre de Grace. She was the grandmother of the late Dahlia Osman and great-grandmother of Noah Rotkowitz.
