Obituary for Laurence E. O'Brien

Laurence E. O’Brien of Havre de Grace, MD passed away on January 29, 2015 at the Harford Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. He was 91. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years Mildred C. O’Brien.
He was born in New York City, NY to the late Edmund and Helen (Clancy) O’Brien.
Mr. O’Brien was the devoted father to Kevin O’Brien and his wife Janice, Susan O’Brien and Mark L. O’Brien and his wife Karen. He was the loving grandfather to Courtney O’Brien, Mark L. O’Brien, Jr., Erin E. (O'Brien) Chamish, Scott O’Brien, Kelly O’Brien, Kaitlin O’Brien and Patrick O’Brien. He was the adoring great-grandfather of Lucky, Finnegan and Charlotte O’Brien. He was preceded in death by his brother Francis X. O’Brien. He was survived and adored by many nieces and nephews. Mr. O’Brien was a veteran of the WWII for the United States Marine Corp for which he was a recipient of the Purple Heart. After serving in the Military he worked as an Office Manager for the Phoenix Mutual Insurance Company, where he retired after many years of employment. He enjoyed and loved golf. He volunteered and coached Little League and enjoyed football. He was an avid volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Charity.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 11 A.M. at The Church of St. Patrick, 615 Congress Avenue, Havre de Grace, MD.
Officiating will be Father Dale Picarelli. Friends and Family may make contributions in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011
