Obituary for Joyce D. Irwin

Joyce D. Irwin of Havre de Grace, MD passed away in her home, surrounded by her loving family on January 16, 2014. She was 81. Mrs. Irwin was born in Durham, NC but lived nearly all of her life in Havre de Grace.
She was predeceased by her father Arthur Mangum, her mother Lannie Berta (Walls) Budnick and step-father Edward K. Budnick, Sr. She is survived by her husband Brice Irwin, Sr., brothers Edward K. Budnick, Jr. and William David Budnick. Mrs. Irwin was the devoted mother to Brice Irwin, Jr. and his wife Candice, Rhonda J. Curry and Lisa A. Reeves and her husband Mark. She was the adored grandmother to Kristopher Koch, Carly Koch, Brice Irwin, III, Sterling Curry, Livia Fender and Alaina Reeves. She was the loving great-grandmother to James Allen Koch. Mrs. Irwin once worked as a switchboard operator before becoming an admitting clerk at Harford Memorial Hospital. She later worked as a medical secretary for various doctors in Havre de Grace, retiring from the office of the late Dr. M. Jesada. She was an avid volunteer for her community, working with the Steppingstone Museum, Lock House Museum and the Havre de Grace Tourism office. In 2010, the city of Havre de Grace declared the week of October 18th through the 24th, be named in her honor for all of her efforts. She truly enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren, and was elated over the recent birth of her first great-grandchild. Messages of condolence may be made to www.zellmanfuneralhome.com
