Robert Lewis Jameson

Robert Lewis Jameson, of Aberdeen, Maryland, passed away on March 19, 2012. He was 80.
He was born in Cohoes, New York, to the late Ralph Jameson and Helen Esther Plumley Jameson.
He was the loving husband of 53 years to Barbara T. Jameson, and devoted father of William “Bill” Jameson and his wife Sheila, and Thomas “Tom” Jameson and his wife Bonnie Barrows, of Gaithersburg, MD. He was the adored grandfather of Kyle Jameson, of Gaithersburg, MD and dear brother of Mary Ann Walsh of Troy, NY.

He was educated In St. Bernard’s Academy and graduated from Cohoes High School. He attended Siena College from 1949-1953, and received a BS in physics. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in August of that year, and served most of his service at the Ballistic Research Labs at APG in MD. He accepted a job at he lab after his separation and worked there for 31 years. After retirement he worked for 10 years at Batelle Memorial Institute. During his career, he wrote nearly 40 technical papers in High Pressure Physics and military subjects.
During his life he was a member of and worked with the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church on community social programs and the parish finance committee. He was also a member of their parochial council, and was very active with the St. Vincent de Paul programs, including FISH and Martha’s Meal. He was a member of the American Legion Post 128. He was active with Boy Scouts of America, working with committees and merit badges. He also enjoyed genealogy.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 10:30 AM, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 222 S. Law St., Aberdeen, MD 21001. Father Austin Murphy will officiate. Contributions may be made in his memory to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 222 S. Law Street, Aberdeen, MD 21001.
